poorly written textbook

Where I do not doubt that the author of this text is knowledgeable in their field, this book is flat-out poorly written. Poor grammar, poor word choice, poor sentence structure. It is very distracting to read and hard to follow some paragraphs. I had to read about 9 chapters for a logistics class and enjoyed none of it.

The book is a very easy read. Breaks down processes very clearly. In the field of Business logistics and supply chain management, things are very difficult because things are always changing with technology but this book gives rising managers a very good foundation on how it works and what the field is all about.

finally a book on the euro

Given the global turbulence of the last year, especially in the f/x markets its great to read about the Euro after seeing 1000 books on the dollar and someone's not so new perspective on it. This book goes through the history and evolution of how the currency was formed, its many iterations over time, and the different personalities that shaped the ECB politics, priorities and eventual mechanics.

The Euro and the ECB have obviously been evolving over their history, in particular over the last year as turbulence overwhelmed economics and in particular central banks macroeconomic models about factors of growth and trade and counterparty fear manifestations. This book does well to describe the conservativeness and aggressiveness of the members separately and their power and bargaining power in setting up a cross country currency regime. It gives insight into the way that the Euro was less quick to move than other central banks. This is probably unsurprising to most as the ECB constraints were pretty well known, focusing on inflation alone, but the origin of the tensions and fears that made the ECB mandate more narrow are all described in this book.

I am sure that more books on the Euro will follow, but this was very informative and gave a good sense of the history and politics of the bank and the countries within. It was interesting for both refreshing some of the personalities of former politicians and their parts played in sometimes constructing, sometimes delaying the eventual currency unification.

an intense historical review of the EURO

while the truth is that i read this book over a course of a year, the fact is that this is an incredible historic view of the personalities and occasions that created the EURO. It is primarily a history book with finance as a secondary goal.

Needs an updated edition that's for sure !!

OK, I have not read the book.

But looking at the publication date (2009) something tells me the 2nd edition will be much longer than the 1st. I suggest a revised title: "The Euro: The World's Worst Man-Made Disaster".

Athanasius was a major figure of 14th-century Christendom. As the Bishop of Alexandria, spiritual master and theologian, he led the Church in its battle against the Arian heresy. Athanasius' The Life of Antony is one of the foremost classics of Christian asceticism. It tells the spiritual story of St. Antony, the founder of Christian monasticism. Written at the request of the desert monks of Egypt to provide "an ideal pattern of the ascetical life," it immediately became astonishingly popular. This work contributed greatly to the establishment of monastic life in Western Christianity. From a literary perspective, it created a new Christian genre for the lives of saints.

The Letter to Marcellinus is an introduction to the spiritual sense of the Psalms. The Psalms are presented as a variety of attitudes which coexist in a truly harmonious and whole sense of prayer.

Great Book

The Life of St. Antony was very uplifting and encouraging. The Letter to Marcellinus really helped me view the Psalms in a different light. It was a great benefit to read this book. I highly recommend it to anyone searching for deeper understanding of the Christian life.
